Introducing… Elle Skies, a singer/songwriter from Melbourne, Australia whom you may be familiar with if you were lucky enough to discover her much loved debut EP, Skyscraper.
Skyscraper was released back in 2006 and although it was a small DIY independent release, it provided Elle Skies a strong foundation within the musical landscape winning the then 19 year old many accolades including glowing industry reviews and first prize in a UK based songwriting competition (with the song 'We Could Make Stars…'). Multiple tracks from the Skyscraper EP found their way onto Australian television with 'Diamonds' appearing in the adult drama Satisfaction while three tracks from the EP were featured on the hit teen TV series Dance Academy.
Now in her mid 20's, Elle Skies is preparing to release her new self titled EP which will be followed by her debut album early in 2012.
It certainly has been a little while since Skyscraper and although retaining the trademark youthful innocence and honesty of her debut, the Elle Skies EP showcases a new level of songwriting maturity with the new songs benefiting from the ups and downs and life experiences from the last five years.
Bouncing seamlessly from the youthful exuberance of 'Socks And Shoes' to the bitter sweet of 'Roundabouts' to the beautifully heart breaking 'Walk With Me', the new EP showcases Elle Skies' diversity as an artist albeit with the constant underlying pop sensibility and Elle's amazingly haunting vocal delivery.
The Elle Skies EP will be released this October via iTunes and www.elleskies.com
Elle Skies' debut album, 'China Doll, Hurt Jewellery' will be released early in 2012
